5 cool London date ideas this week 10/12-16/12

Happy Monday Smudged Crew! We’ve got a swinging line up for you this week, with a secret soiree for those who like cocktails, dancing and all that glitters! Carol Concerts in aid of very deserving causes, immersive theatrical experiences, oh and the Circus is coming to town. You’re in for a good one guys!

Carol-ing with compassion

There is nothing better than getting together with friends and family and belting out the classics at a Christmas Carol concert. The Age UK Love Christmas is where you’ll want to be heading for an A-list lineup and hear the incredible voice of Russell Watson in St Pauls. Sadly this has sold out, but if you want something a little lower key, yet equally heart-warming, Southwark Cathedral has multiple carol concerts occurring throughout this week and next. They’ll be raising funds for a great collection of charities including Marie Curie and Feed the Minds, so warm up those vocal cords guys and gals!

A Spectacular Speakeasy Soiree

Step into the Jazz Age, an era of top secret all singing, all dancing, all-out glamorous cocktail parties. Think Gatsby at Christmas time and you are bang on the money! The Candlelight Club this weekend, is throwing a tinsel-toned good old Yuletide knees up. There’ll be a live band, cabaret performances and retro DJ sets. Remember this is a time of prohibition so you won’t find out the venue until 24 hours before the event, oh and don’t forget to dress to impress 20s style!

Labyrinth, Come In

Just in case you missed Home Alone last night, you can head down to Clapham’s Enchanted Labyrinth for a second showing of the Christmas classic. The Backyard Cinema has created a Narnia-like setting for screenings of Elf, Love Actually, The Greatest Showman and many more box office hits. With the Cabaret style bar open before and after the film, you may never want to leave Narnia – whoops we mean Clapham.

The Greatest Snowman

Hugh Jackman may not there in person, but he’s certainly there in spirit at this immersive theatrical dining experience. You’ll have key roles to play in this production that’ll get you believing in Father Christmas again. There be delicious wine and a culinary extravaganza cooked by MasterChef: The Professionals 2017 Finalist, Louisa Ellis.

A Celebration of All Things Circus!

You can start your training to become part of the “greatest show” in Greenwich this weekend, as they welcome the return of the Greenwich Circus Festival. With a series of workshops, some at no cost, you can channel your inner Zac Efron at this awesome event. There’ll be food and drink a plenty and several contemporary circus performances throughout the weekend. So, tell me do you want to go?!
