New Years Eve is nearly upon us, what an awesome year 2018 has been, so its only right to see it out in style! Every year we have the usual panic, what to do – tuck up for a chilled night in, wrap up warm for wine and fireworks, or dress up to head out out and dance until you drop in the early hours of New Years Day? Whatever takes your fancy, we’re here to bring you the definitive NYE line up.
One of our faves and one of the most eccentric places you could wish to visit, Mr Fogg’s Residence is putting on a New Years marvel, in the form of a masquerade ball. In true Phineas Fogg manner, the evening will be a black tie Victorian inspired affair. Other than the most delicious tipples to drink and canapes to feast on, there will be a whole host of performers from silhouette artists to the live band bringing you the most raucous live jazz to help you swing into 2019.
If you’ve held off making plans for NYE and are now suffering a serious bout of FOMO, why not have a DIY spectacular. Grab a hip flask and your winter woollies and head on down one of the FOC locations to catch a glimpse of the fabulous fireworks. Primrose Hill, Hampstead Heath, Greenwich Park and a number of the London bridges including Vauxhall and Lambeth Bridge all have views of the sparklers – be prepared for some serious crowds though!
Crack out your finest pair of socks and dress to impress on board one of the many New Years Eve Thames Cruises. Most come with dinner and dancing and a drink on arrival. Although the price tag is a little on the steep side, you’ll be getting unparalleled views of the Embankment fireworks. Not to mention the chance to channel your inner James Bond or Grace Kelly, as you cruise down the river Thames into 2019.
Among the awesome London restaurant offerings, Dishoom has curated a NYE menu, for just £65 a head. Featuring a sumptuous seasonal menu for one night only with brand new dishes to delight in, you’ll be welcome to keep your table for the whole evening. Oh and just in case you missed the memo the theme of the evening in Bombay Glam!
For a more chilled vibe, head to Tobacco Docks’ trendiest rooftop bar, Skylight. They’ve got street food stalls of dreams, ice skating, igloos, an awesome DJ line up and a glass of Moet on arrival to see you into the New Year. There’ll also be screens throughout Skylight so there’s no chance of you missing the countdown before you burst into a mighty rendition of Auld Lang Syne en mass.
